Management Training FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most often from prospective participants and the HR teams who book on their behalf.

Open cohort programmes cap at twelve participants. That limit exists because the exercises involve live role-play and real-time coaching, which stops working once the group gets too big. In-house workshops for a single organisation can go up to twenty because the team already knows each other and the dynamics are different.

Yes. Our one-to-one coaching sessions run entirely via video call, and the new manager foundations programme is available in a fully online format or as a hybrid with two in-person days in Scotland. Team performance workshops work best face-to-face, but we have run them remotely for distributed teams with good results, provided everyone has their camera on and a quiet space.

We start with a short input, usually ten to fifteen minutes, introducing a concept or framework. Then participants work through a scenario in pairs or small groups: practising a feedback conversation, mapping a decision-making process, or diagnosing a team problem from a real case study. After the exercise, the group debriefs together. We close each session with individual action planning: each person writes down the one thing they will do differently before the next session.

The six-week new manager foundations programme costs £1,450 per person. Half-day team workshops start at £2,200 for up to twelve participants, and full-day workshops start at £3,800. Senior leadership coaching is priced at £275 per 90-minute session, with a discount if you commit to a six-month package upfront. All prices exclude VAT. We send a detailed quote after an initial conversation so we can tailor the scope to what you actually need.

We always adapt the case studies and scenarios to the sector of the group. If you work in healthcare, the examples will involve clinical teams, shift handovers and patient safety conversations. If you are in financial services, we will use scenarios around regulatory pressure, client escalations and cross-functional project management. We ask for a short briefing call before any programme so we understand the real challenges your managers face.

Our lead facilitator, Morag Dunbar, holds a Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring from the Institute of Leadership and Management. She also completed a postgraduate diploma in organisational psychology at the University of Edinburgh. Our associate facilitators each have at least eight years of management experience in industry before moving into training, and all hold coaching qualifications at Level 5 or above.

Open cohort programmes run in a training room in central Edinburgh. For in-house workshops, we come to your premises anywhere in Scotland. We have also delivered sessions in Manchester, Leeds and London for clients with teams based in England. Travel costs outside Scotland are quoted separately.

Every participant receives a written summary of the frameworks covered and their personal action plan. Three months after the programme, we send a short follow-up survey asking what has changed and what has stuck. For the new manager foundations programme, we also offer an optional one-hour booster coaching call at the three-month mark, included in the price.
